October 06, 2017

It’s officially fall which marks that the festive holiday season is upon us! While Hawaii does not feature season changing leaves and cozy sweater weather, there is an exciting amount of things to do in Maui in October! So venture from your relaxing North Kihei rental and discover what the island community has in store this month.

Sunday, October 15th, 2017 - Maui Ukulele Festival
As part of a non-profit charitable organization established in 2004, the annual Maui Ukulele Festival is back again for its 12th year! If you are seeking a true Hawaii experience, come join the Maui community for a full afternoon of laughter, love, and hope. Set at a first-class venue, the renowned Maui Arts and Cultural Center, roll out a blanket or grab a lawn chair and experience some of Hawaii’s favorite ukulele musicians!

Sunday, October 15, 2017 - Maui Marathon
Looking to do something active while you are on the island? Well throw on your running shoes and join runners from around Maui for the 47th Annual Maui Marathon. Hosted by the Westin Kaanapali Resort and Spa, this 26.2-mile run starts off in Kahului and is filled with views of the sparkling sea along with the majestic West Maui Mountains. Time is running out, when you should be the one running! Register online by October 8th as part of a 4 person relay team or an individual runner.

Friday to Sunday, October 20-22, 2017 - Hawaii Food & Wine Festival
The Hawaii Food & Wine Festival is a premier event that showcases wine tasting and cooking demonstrations along with exclusive dining opportunities with dishes that feature local ingredients. Kicking off the first of its three-weekend tour the Hawaii Food and Wine Festival will begin with the Roy’s Annual Golf Classic in Kaanapali. For our golf foodies, this is the perfect opportunity to tee off with celebrity chefs while enjoying several culinary tastings. The rest of the weekend will feature global bites from thirteen world-class chefs as well as an extravagant dinner under the stars. Get your tickets today and help the festival’s beneficiaries help others!

Sunday, October 29, 2017 - XTERRA World Championship
As the last in a series of more than 100 off-road triathlon races held worldwide, the XTERRA World Championship on Maui brings 75 professionals and more than 700 amateur racers from around the globe. Starting at D.T. Fleming Beach these racers (maybe even you!) will launch into a 1-mile swim, bike 20 miles of the lower slopes of the West Maui Mountains, and trail run across forest trails as well as beach sands for 6.5 miles. Catch a glimpse of this exciting race in Kapalua or kick back and watch the nationally aired action from the comforts of your South Maui vacation rental!

Tuesday, October 31, 2017 - Halloween in Lahaina
If you find yourself wondering if trick or treating on vacation is a thing, it is! While you can wander around the condo grounds or nearby neighborhoods, we suggest venturing to the famous Front Street of Lahaina Town. As the biggest and most celebrated holiday on Front Street, Halloween brings what has been unofficially named the “Mardi Gras of the Pacific”. So don your festive best, get some treats that the retailers will be handing out, and experience the community event of the year!

These are just a few of the many things Maui has going on and we invite you to explore beyond these activities during your island vacation. So what are you waiting for? Start planning your adventure today! Did you see our Maui vacation specials?
